I'm experiencing the “This code is no longer valid” error. What can I do?
If I lost my eSIM QR code, what can I do?

Log in to the ByteSIM app using the email address associated with your order. Navigate to My eSIM and click Install shown in your eSIM to view the QR code. 
Alternatively, you can register as a user, and we can resend the QR code to your email upon request.

Why does my eSIM have unlimited data but still experience speed limits?

In rare cases, operators may implement an international Fair Usage Policy (FUP) to ensure equitable internet usage and maintain optimal connections for all users. This policy targets those who consume large amounts of data in a short period, such as through frequent live streaming or movie watching, by temporarily reducing their network speed or deprioritizing their connection.

Even with this speed limit, you can still enjoy HD streaming (1080p) without significant interruption. Typically, these speed restrictions last no longer than one day. Although ByteSIM cannot control this policy, you can be assured that any imposed limits will be lifted the following day, restoring your original plan speed.

Why is my network speed slower than expected?

We offer 5G/4G/LTE service in most countries, partnering with the top local carriers to provide the fastest 5G unlimited data. To enhance signal quality, we aim to support multiple carriers within each country (see product descriptions for supported carriers). However, actual network speed depends on your phones signal strength. If the signal is weak, the speed may slow down due to limited local carrier coverage or indoor obstructions. We recommend manually switching carriers or changing locations to improve your connection. Please click here to see how to change network manually.

How to set my APN to keep network connected?

If your eSIM doesn’t work, it may be caused by incorrect APN. In ByteSIM app and “Installation Instructions for this eSIM” in your received email you can find the APN settings corresponding to the specific product. Try to reset your APN to make it work. For specific details, please see here.

Why can’t I use my iPhone as a hotspot?

Most of our eSIMs support network sharing without data limit. If you’re unable to use your iPhone as a hotspot, it’s often due to data roaming not being enabled. For more information, please refer to here.

Can I install eSIM on my laptop?

Why can’t I install eSIM with a compatible phone?

It may because your phone is locked. In order to use eSIM on a cell phone, two conditions need to be met: the phone is compatible with eSIM and is unlocked. For more information about unlocked phone, please see here.

Is the iPhones from China and Hong Kong compatible with eSIM?

Unfortunately, iPhones from Mainland China and Hong Kong generally do not support eSIMs, as they are equipped with dual physical SIM slots but lack eSIM functionality.

However, models like the iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone SE 2020, and iPhone XS that come with a single physical SIM card from Hong Kong or Macao do support eSIM.

Which smartphone models are compatible with eSIM?

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 5 are compatible with eSIM, enabling cost-effective internet access while traveling. Unfortunately, models like the Samsung Galaxy S10, S20 FE, Motorola Edge and One Vision, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X, and Huawei P30 do not support eSIM.

Will my eSIM expire if I don’t use it right away after purchase?

Some eSIMs must be activated within 30 days to prevent the QR code from expiring. If the QR code does expire before you’ve used it, don’t worry—simply contact our customer service, and we’ll issue you a new QR code.

How long should I wait for eSIM to ship after payment?

The eSIM QR code is dispatched immediately after your purchase. You should get an email within a few minutes. If the email isn’t in your inbox, it might have landed in your spam folder.

If more than 10 minutes have passed and you still haven’t received your code, contact our customer service and we’ll assist you in resolving the issue.

Can I buy an eSIM that works in multiple countries?

Sure. ByteSIM offers regional eSIMs that work in multiple countries. Specific information please refer to ByteSIM’s regional eSIM part.

What are the differences between a total plan and a daily plan?

Daily Plan: This plan provides a specific amount of data for each day. Once you use up your daily data allowance, you must wait until the next day or 24 hours from the activation or order time for the data to refresh. Specific refresh time may vary depending on the product.

Total Plan: This plan offers a set amount of data that can be used at any time during the entire usage period, without daily limits. You can utilize the full data allowance according to your needs throughout the plan’s duration.

What happens if I don’t use all my data when my plan expires?

ByteSIM eSIMs are only active for the time frame specified on our website. Any unused data will expire after the indicated date and cannot be accessible.

Can I use WhatsApp with my ByteSIM eSIM?

Yes, you can use WhatsApp with your eSIM as usual. You can stay connected with friends and family while traveling without any issues.  

However, keep in mind that video calls on WhatsApp consume a significant amount of data. We suggest sending messages whenever possible to save data.

Important Note: In certain regions, such as the UAE (United Arab Emirates), Qatar, and Oman, WhatsApp’s voice and video call features are restricted.

When can I install my eSIM?

We highly recommend scanning the QR code for your eSIM installation just before you need to use it, such as before your flight departure or upon arrival at your destination. This helps prevent activation issues due to incorrect operations.

Please note that certain products, such as the “USA - Unlimited 5G Data & Calling & SMS” eSIM, must be installed only on the activation date. For details on special products, refer to the product description page. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact our support team.

How do I set up the eSIM on my device?

After purchasing, you'll receive a QR code via email. You can either print the QR code or view it on your computer. Here are three methods to set up your eSIM:

  • Scan QR Code:
          Go to Settings> Mobile Data > Add Data Plan.
          Scan the QR code provided.
  • Install Manually:
          Go to Settings> Mobile Data > Add Data Plan.
          Tap Enter Details Manually and input the SM-DP+ Address found in the “Installation Instructions for this eSIM” in your received email.
          Tap Next, then Continue twice, and wait for the installation to complete.
  • For iOS 17.4 and later, you can install the eSIM directly from ByteSIM app:
          Log in to ByteSIM app with the email address used for your order.
          Navigate to My eSIM.
          Then clickthe Install option shown in your eSIM.

Once installed, you can name the data plan on your phone. Note that the ByteSIM data plan will activate only when you arrive at your destination. Upon arrival, enable data roaming in your phone’s settings and activate the ByteSIM data plan. You can then switch between the ByteSIM plan and your original plan. Are voice call and SMS services included?

You can check the plan type on the details page of each data package,If the plan type is data only, it means that voice calls and text messages are not included.

Can I use two eSIMs on one device simultaneously?

It depends on phone models. While many smartphones let you install multiple eSIMs on the same device, typically, only one eSIM can be active at a time. The Samsung Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra allow you to use two eSIMs simultaneously. Similarly, the iPhone 13, 13 Pro, 13 Pro Max, and newer models also support dual eSIM functionality.

Can I have multiple phones scan the same QR code?

Sorry you cannot. When you use your phone to scan the QR code for the first time, the binding has been established, and other phones cannot no longer scan and use the QR code. In addition, One QR code cannot be scanned multiple times, and the scan will not work if the number of scans exceeds the limits.

Should I switch on Data Roaming when using eSIM?

Yes. Please make sure that Data Roaming is on. Please go to Settings ---> Cellular and turn on Data Roaming. Please also remember to turn it off after use.

Will my physical SIM still work while eSIM is installed?

The eSIM plan does not affect the physical card usage.

When does my eSIM data plan start?

Most eSIM data plans start billing when they are activated, which means connecting to the network in the destination country. You can choose to activate your eSIM upon arrival, but be aware that a Wi-Fi connection is required to complete the installation process.

However, please note that some products, such as the Giffgaff UK eSIM, begin billing from the moment of purchase. For specific details on for different products, refer to the product description on the detail page.

Can I switch my eSIM to a new phone if my current phone is lost?

If you lose your phone and need to switch your eSIM to a new device, this option is available for some of our products. For detailed information on whether your specific eSIM can be transferred to a new phone, please contact our customer service team. We will assist you with the process and provide the necessary support.

How can I check my eSIM data balance and other details?

You can easily check your data balance directly in your device’s data settings or through ByteSIM app available on both Android and iOS. The app provides comprehensive information, including expiration time, data refresh schedule, supported carriers, and APN. To access these details, make sure to log in with the email address used for your order.

Can I renew or extend the data on my eSIM?

Currently, it is not possible to renew the data on your eSIM. If you need additional data, you will need to purchase a new eSIM. However, for certain products like the “USA - Unlimited 5G Data & Calling & SMS” eSIM, you can reserve a phone number. To reserve your number, please contact our customer service team for assistance.

How to remove the ByteSIM eSIM after use?

There is no need to delete the eSIM once you have finished using it. However, if you wanted to, you can do this by following the steps here.
