How to Make a Call with a US Phone Number?
In today’s globalized world, staying connected is more important than ever. Whether you’re traveling, relocating, or simply need a USA number for business purposes, an eSIM can be an excellent solution. This guide will walk you through how to get a USA phone number with an eSIM, step by step.
What is an eSIM with a Phone Number?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM technology embedded within a device. Unlike a physical SIM card, an eSIM allows you to activate a mobile plan without the need for a physical card. With an eSIM, you can have a USA phone number linked directly to your device, providing seamless connectivity for calls, texts, and data usage. It’s a convenient and flexible option for travelers, expats, or anyone needing access to a US-based mobile network.
How to Get a USA Number with an eSIM
Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to acquiring a USA phone number using eSIM technology.
Step 1: Check if Your Device Supports eSIM
Before proceeding, ensure that your smartphone or device is compatible with eSIM. Most modern smartphones, such as the iPhone XR or later, Google Pixel 3 or later, and Samsung Galaxy S20 or later, support eSIM. Please note that your phone should also be unlocked.
How to check:
-
Go to your device’s settings.
-
Search for “eSIM” or “Cellular Plans” under network options.
-
Look for the option to add a mobile plan.
Step 2: Choose an eSIM Plan based on need
- Visit the ByteSIM website or install their app on your iOS or Android device.
- Launch the app and select the USA for your trip.
- Choose an eSIM plan that best fits your travel requirements.
Step 3: Install Your eSIM
Once you’ve purchased an eSIM plan, you'll receive an Order Confirmation email. Then you should first submit a form with the activation date (At least 1 days after the purchase date. For urgency, contact our customer service), your mobile device's IMEI, and EID for seamless eSIM setup.
This esim plan is quite special. You won’t receive an email with QR code. Instead, it can be installed only on the activation date you submitted. The activation will take place between 0:00 and 10:00 AM (New York Time) on the designated activation date. Please ensure your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi. At the activation time, your iPhone will receive a push notification. If you do not receive the push notification after 10am, please refer to the guide to manually scan the QR code to install.
Note: If you have used this before, please delete the old/used esim(s) before installing the new one. Otherwise, it may lead to installation errors.
Step 4: Use Your Phone Number
After activation, your USA phone number will be ready to use. You can now make calls, send texts, and access data using your new number.
Alternative for Calls with Mobile Data
VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) apps allow users to make international calls affordably and with reliable sound quality. While there are many options available, popular choices include WhatsApp, Telegram, and Skype.
These applications offer both voice and video call features. All you need is an internet connection—something you don’t have to worry about with ByteSIM’s unlimited data plans. If you’re unfamiliar with these apps, here’s a quick guide:
- Download and install your preferred app, such as WhatsApp.
- Save the contact’s number on your phone.
- If the contact is already saved, open the app directly.
- Locate the contact within the app and choose either a voice or video call option.
Keep in mind that both you and the person you’re calling must have the same app installed to connect.
How to Make a Call with a US Phone Number?
Making a local call with a US phone number is straightforward, but it's essential to understand the correct dialing format. Here is a step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Understand the Dialing Format
When making a local call in the US, you typically need to dial:
- Area Code: A three-digit code representing the geographic region (e.g., 212 for New York).
- Local Number: A seven-digit phone number.
The format looks like this: (Area Code) + Local Number
Example: If you’re calling a New York number, dial 212-555-1234.
Step 2: Dial the Number
- Open your phone's dial pad.
- Enter the area code followed by the local number.
- Press the call button.
Step 3: Troubleshooting Issues
- No Service: Ensure your eSIM is active and has a strong signal.
- Call Fails: Double-check the number format or contact your service provider for assistance.
